Yet another option could be a headphone amp with an optical input. They're more likely to pull a good signal from the PS3 output. Sennheiser and AKG and Audio Technica make great headphones on the mid range price range (senny do some low price ones too). Other options from an pro audio background are Yamaha, Alesis and some others, basically your low end "monitors" (that are actually much better than most the plastic tat you'd get from Argos etc aimed at a consumer market). I would suggest M-audio AV20 or 40 if they still make those, the little Aego sets are good although the subwoofer/amp unit is massive, and there are some OK Logitech and Creative sets if you don't cheap out. There a loads of options for that, I'd start another thread asking about speakers. Most good speaker sets will themselves include a headphone socket. And they will need to be amplified (so anything with a volume knob, not speakers with just speaker cable). You might be better of with speakers that way. This basically means the headphones suck more volume out of that output. On the PS4 press and hold the Playstation button on. If the impedance of the headphones is good it should be an OK volume. In order to use the LS20 with the PS4, the Output to Headphones setting must be changed to All Audio. That is however a line level signal so it could be a bit quiet.
